90th Anniversary – A Celebration of Heritage and Success
Kheng Cheng School has its humble beginnings in 1927 as a school for the children in the Thomson neighbourhood. Over the years, we have sought to meet the needs of our community, and have attained many academic and co-curricular achievements, living up to the aspirations of our founder, Mdm Lim Peng Tuan in “Uplifting the Youth (擎青)”. Now 90 years strong, we have evolved into an established school in Toa Payoh, serving more than 1400 students.
As part of MOE’s plan to support holistic education, the school will be upgraded with additional facilities, such as an indoor sports hall, redesigned classrooms, band room, dance studio, performing arts studio and an outdoor jogging path. These new facilities will encourage greater interaction, and facilitate experiential and hands-on learning, so as to develop our students to be the critical thinkers and compassionate leaders of tomorrow. This upgrading will cost approximately S$15 million and the school would need to raise about $750,000.
We started our fund raising journey in 2016, and this year, in conjunction with our 90th Anniversary Celebrations, we have lined up a series of exciting and meaningful activities to honour our heritage and celebrate our successes. We will kick start our 90th Anniversary Celebrations with the KCS Donation Card Drive and KCS Family Movie Day.
