International Friendship Day

Did you know that  “Mingalar Bar” is a formal greeting used at any time of the day in Myanmar, that traditonal boat and buffalo racing are popular sporting activities in Laos and that Saman, the dance of a thousand hands, is an indonesia cultural dance? These questions were swiftly answered correctly by our Singaporean students and the many Southeast Asian friends amongst us during the weekly assembly talk. Indeed, International Friendship Day (IFD) is a day for celebrating friendship.IFD_2.jpg

KCS commemorated IFD on 7 April and the theme for this year’s event is ‘ASEAN 50’. This annual commemorative event provided opportunities for our students to learn about and appreciate other cultures in cosmopolitan Singapore. We hope to nurture in our students the spirit of friendship, collaboration and appreciate the contributions of foreigners living, working and studying in Singapore.  As part of our continuing Citizenship Education efforts in school, students from the Primary one and two cohorts also came to school dressed in the traditional attire of a country in South East Asia for the assembly programme.
