Founder's Day Celebration 2018
An air of anticipation permeated the school on the morning of 2 March 2018. This was the day Kheng Cheng School would commemorate her founding by her Founder, Madam Lim Peng Tuan, 91 years ago. This year, the school commemorated Founder’s Day with the theme, ‘Generosity in Giving’, to celebrate our Founder’s spirit, and her legacy of ‘Uplifting the Youth’ through an education that would engender in them the values of Kindness, Courage, Sincerity and Diligence.
The Founder’s Day Concert cum Prize Presentation 2018 was a culmination of activities in the weeks preceding the celebration, which included a Founder’s Day Exhibition cum Quiz and the rendering of Acts of Kindness by our students as demonstrated in the giving of their time, effort and other gracious acts in the home, school and the community – aligned to the true spirit of giving from the heart by the school’s Founder.
The Opening Act of the concert was made more poignant this year with a lovely presentation of ‘Our Founder’s Dream’, a book beautifully written and illustrated by some of our Primary 5 students – their gift to the school on her 91st anniversary.
On this occasion, awards were presented to the following recipients:
- Lim Peng Tuan Award: Chong Tian Yu, P6.6

Gracing the occasion was Mr Loy Jit Meng, Vice-Chairman of the School Management Committee (SMC), esteemed members of the SMC and members of the Parents Support Group. Their presence had certainly made the occasion more meaningful. This was no more evident in the finale of the concert when the entire school community sang with gusto the tiny verse This Little Kheng Cheng Light of Mine, I’m Going to Make it Shine…Yes, let’s keep our Kheng Cheng Light burning strong and bright!
