#KCSCelebrates Racial Harmony Day 2020
Kheng Cheng School commemorated Racial Harmony Day on 3 July 2020. The theme for this year is ‘Multicultural Singapore’. As Singapore progresses and we continue to shape our multicultural identity, it is important that we strengthen the collective identity of Singaporeans.
For this year’s decentralised concert segment, we highlighted the different types of food from the different ethnic groups. Our Year Heads and Assistant Year Heads tried their hands at folding the epok-epok, our favourite local snack. We also showed three of our teachers trying out an activity from another racial group with their family members at home during the stay-at-home Circuit Breaker period. The concert segment ended on a high note when we got our students to guess their teachers who were dressed in their ethnic costumes.
We had our traditional games exhibition between 14 and 16 July. Students got to see the exhibition in real-life, as well as virtually through the Deck.Toys application. It was indeed an interesting Racial Harmony experience as compared to previous years, but the message we want our students to emulate is still the same; to love and appreciate one another regardless of race, language or religion.
