Curriculum Alignment (MOE Music Syllabus)

The Music Department is aligned to the MOE Music Syllabus, with a strong emphasis on:

• Listening and Responding – students develop aural awareness by listening to and responding to music from diverse cultures and genres.

• Creating – students explore and experiment with sound through singing, instrumental playing, and simple composition or improvisation.

• Performing – students gain confidence through individual and ensemble performances using voice, instruments, and movement.

• Understanding Music in Context – students appreciate music as part of cultural, social, and historical contexts in Singapore and beyond.

• Reflection and Communication – students reflect on their musical experiences and articulate musical ideas using appropriate vocabulary.

• Curriculum and cohort-wide music programmes that ensure broad-based access and foundational musical skills.

• Learning journeys and live music experiences (e.g. Western Orchestra Experience) to deepen listening and appreciation.
