School Upgrading Works Update (12 Jul 2019)

School Upgrading Overview

We have completed our Outdoor Experiential Learning Gardens, new Media Resource Library, Student Care Centre and classrooms. Construction of our Indoor Sports Hall is progressing well. We have just commenced works to build our new Performing Arts Cluster on Level 3 of our Admin Block which includes a new band room, dance studio and PAL room. Works are expected to be completed by Feb 2020 as planned.School Upgrading Works 3

We are committed to provide a safe environment for our students and the community. We will continue to adopt a preventive and educative approach towards safety and have taken the following measures to minimise inconvenience to the community:

  • Safety hoarding, noise barriers, dust nettings have been put up on-site and air-conditioning installed in selective classrooms,
  • Noise sensors installed around the construction site to ensure that noise is within acceptable limits,
  • Regular fogging and oiling of drains are conducted for vector control,
  • Weekly Progress Meetings and Safety Updates are conducted to track project progress and review feedback and near misses,
  • Monthly spot checks are conducted by NEA and MOE Safety Roving Team to ensure that the construction site meets regulatory standards,
  • Safety briefings are conducted for students, staff and construction workers. On black-out days where no work is conducted (e.g. for PSLE), safety sharing is conducted with workers to reinforce workplace safety and health messages.

Traffic Management

Kcs Traffic Management

As part of our upgrading works to the Admin Block, there is insufficient car park space in school to accommodate our school buses. We have consulted and obtained LTA’s approval for our school buses to be parked along Lor 3 Toa Payoh during school dismissal (1.30 pm to 2 pm) from Jul 2019 till Feb 2020. We will adopt the necessary measures to ensure that our students can board the school buses safely.

We continue to seek the understanding of the community on the increased traffic flow during school arrival (7 am – 7.30 am) and dismissal hours (1.30 pm – 2.00 pm).

Feedback and Queries

Parents’ Engagement on School Upgrading Works

Shuttle Bus Service

We have adopted the suggestion given by some parents during our engagement session last year and have made arrangements with the school’s transport company to provide a shuttle service from the back gate to school. Details are as follows:

Pickup Timings: 6.50 am (Arrival), 1.45 pm (Dismissal)
Monthly Rates: $25 (1 way), $35 (2 ways)
The bus company would require a booking of at least 20 students to run the service.

Interested parents can call Teo Boon Transport Admin Office to enquire about the service at 6758 5382.

The school has also communicated to the bus company to keep the shuttle bus booking line open until end Apr 2018. This would allow parents to make an informed decision if they require the shuttle bus service after trying out the different means of commuting to school.
